“Kөl Fest" is all about experience, education and entertainment. We want to offer new way of travel recreation and learning new cultures through music, art and nature.

Enjoy music for 24 hours

There will be several stages on festival site: The Main Stage- performances by bands, traditional music, DJs and musical collaborations; Gallery - night rave with DJs until the morning; Amphitheater - chill out sessions until dawn, morning yoga and master classes.

Musicians

We select the known and emerging artists, and invite DJs and bands from all over the world. We are proud to represent different genres and cultural diversity of the festival for the visitors to enjoy their favorite music styles.

Food and Drink

There will be several food courts and bars on the festival site. You can explore Central Asian, European cuisine, as well as a variety of street food. Plus we took special care of the drinks. Several bar zones will keep your mood high all day and night during the festival.

Activity at the festival

The festival also offers various educational activities for adults and children. Morning yoga sessions and meditation on the lakeside, creativity and self-development talks, digital art exhibition, cinema, master class of yurt building and more.

Tourism

The festival now allows you to take a trip around Kyrgyzstan before or after the festival together with other festival guests. Also short trips to the nearby mountains, canyons and gorges accompanied by professional guides are possible. Tours are designed for several hours during the daytime.

Safety

The safety and wellbeing of our guests is the number one priority for the Kol Fest administration. We take all the efforts in this regard. Thus police, ambulance and private security agencies are invited. Please be aware and follow the safety rules inside and outside of the festival grounds.

OUR HISTORY

The first festival in 2019 focused on “Diversity and Interaction”, with just under 500 guests who enjoyed music, arts and a variety of interactive activities. More than 20 DJs, singers and bands from Central Asia (Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan) and the world (Japan, France, Germany, UK) performed on stage over three days, with good media coverage as this was the first event of its sort in Kyrgyzstan. The focus on local development included a sustainable waste management component, a youth volunteer camp and hospitality and food trainings with local guesthouses.

The theme of the festival in 2021 was “Recovery”, providing a space for participants and artists to come together following the difficulties of the COVID-19 crisis, as well as supporting the revival of tourism and cultural events in Kyrgyzstan. Despite uncertainties and risks, the 2021 edition was a significant success, with 1000 guests from more than 30 countries, with a successful COVID-19 health and hygiene concept (no C19 cases detected or linked to festival visitors), positive feedback from visitors, local and international media interest, an increasing number of musicians and new stages and zones, as well as a widely appreciated contemporary arts gallery presenting the results of an arts residence.

With an increasingly active local and regional music and arts scene and increasing attention for Kyrgyzstan (for example highlighted by its inclusion in the top 10 Lonely Planet travel destinations, CNTraveler Top 10,), we believe that 2019 was the perfect year to launch this project in Kyrgyzstan. The results of 2019 and 2021 editions proved our assumptions. In 2022 Kol Fest is growing and keeps its goals. As such, the festival aims to achieve three objectives:

1. Contribute to sustainable local development on the South Shore of Lake Issyk- Kul
2. Provide a platform for intercultural exchange between Central Asia and rest of the world
3. Support the music and arts scene in Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia more broadly

We would like the festival to be as sustainable and locally embedded as possible. We are working in close collaboration with the local community, and as such there will be local food stalls, the local administration is helping with logistics and we have a number of volunteers from the South Shore of Issyk-Kul. What’s more, we are working towards a sustainable waste management and sanitation concept to draw attention to this issue and provide solutions.
